Quinn Kirkland Photographer.
First of all I have a great wife and 4 amazing kids who support me in all of (my) “our” travels which turn into photo trips. Without them I would have not achieved this goal. By trade I could be classified as an entrepreneur of many things. As a kid I grew up on a farm in Southern Idaho and always had a passion for being outdoors.
Scouting and camping trips were a big part of my childhood. I graduated from Ricks College in Rexburg, ID with a degree in Landscape Horticulture which I think has steered me into finding natural beautiful landscapes. Currently, I own and manage one of the most famous Haunted Attractions in Montana (The Field of ScreamsMT) and when I’m not working on that, I am an excavator & builder. So where does photography fit into all of this? Well, I’ve always owned a camera and take it with me pretty much everywhere. Photography is a great escape for me. Over the past 10 years, I’ve literally filled my extra time studying, viewing tutorials, listening to podcasts, and viewing 1000’s of images per month, and studying their qualities. (visit “instruction” for some great resources) You could say I’m a self-taught Photographer (with the influence of many professionals) One of my highlights was a 10-day photo workshop trip in Iceland in December 2018. This trip pretty much changed my way of thinking in the photography and travel world. Since that trip, I’ve attended other workshops and photo trips all over the US. 5 of us from the Iceland trip get together once a year and do a photo trip in the US. (see picture above) In Seattle, I attended a workshop with the creator of Lumenzia luminosity masking which helps add depth and creativity to a photo. I use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for processing and have great knowledge of the panels. Visit my “Classes” page to learn how to use these tools.
So why is my website named “Fine Art” at the end instead of photography? Anyone can take a photo and they can be awesome. Cell phone images look great on a small phone screen or computer, but when they are blown up, much detail is lost. It is a challenge to make fine art images. Waiting for the right conditions and going to locations multiple times takes time and resources. I currently shoot w/a Sony Mirrorless A7r4 camera with the best lenses available. This particular camera will produce a 100+ mb file and can capture fine detail when sized up. Having a great camera does not make one a Fine Art Photographer. Adding many elements like composition, timing of lighting, location, and subject matter help produce great wall art.
Thank you all for viewing my site!
